About all the tribes of the state along with their traditions and culture besides their contributions in the freedom struggle of the country. State of Odisha is famous for it's tribes and their pristine culture. A large number of tribes, especially in KBK area are still living in deep forests and avoid mixing with outsiders in order to protect their own unique culture. In fact some of the India's oldest tribal communities are living in this area. They were the possessors of natural resources like -river water, forests, mountains and lush green land. Because of industrialisation, westernisation and urbanisation their society and culture are affected and changed. With declining mineral and forest wealth, they are becoming economically weak. However, they live in complete harmony with nature, socially very developed and content in their social life. Despite urbanisation, they continue to hold their identity. The modern society has to learn a lot from them. The book is written in the above perspective. The tribes have saved many of their cultural traits and one will find both that are traditional and modern. One should visit the state to know about them and experience their culture and traditions from close quarters which will be a life time experience.
