Educational Technology is the systematic application of scientific knowledge about teaching-learning and conditions of learning to improve the efficiency of teaching and learning.
Educational technology research always had an ambitious agenda. Sometimes it only aims at increased efficiency or effectiveness of current practice, but frequently it aims at pedagogical change. While it can be considered as a design science, it also addresses fundamental issues of learning, teaching and social organization and therefore, makes use of the full range of modern social science and life science methodology.
Scope and Significance of Educational Technology are summarized as: Analysis of the process of teaching and learning, spelling out the educational goals or objectives, development, selection and use of the appropriate audio-visual aids, effective utilization of the hardware and mass media to provide essential feedback and control through evaluation and teaching preparation or teaching training.
There is hardly available any edited/text book which covers concepts of innovations in educational technology. The present edited book is an outcome of the lectures contributed by the resource persons and the participants of most prestigious of ICAR sponsored winter school on “Innovations in Educational Technology” organized at the department of extension education, Rajasthan College of Agriculture, MPUAT. The book covers topics viz., overview of Educational Technology, curriculum development, motivation and behavior, Traditional media in agricultural education, answering and asking questions, role of A.V. aids for effective communication in teaching and learning process, cone of experience, e- learning, effective communication skills, writing skills and nonverbal communication etc.
