During Kargil War, India realized its inevitable need for developing its own Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS), to meet both civil and military requirements. The unique stationary indigenous Hawk eye: IRNSS will effectively assist India in monitoring, aviation and military operations in the region. Its precision guidance will ensure uninterrupted service for both civil and military needs. By this success India become a country that stand by its own technology in GNSS and SBAS. Therefore, IRNSS adds a feather in a crown of India?s technological advancement.
