Haimavathabhuvil the Malayalam version of Himalayan Odyssey published by Mathrubhumi Books in 2007 is a landmark in Malayalam literature, receiving both critical and popular acclaim. In its grand sweep from the serene Himalayas to the banks of the river Nila in Kerala, the non-linear work synthesises legends and mythologies, history and geography, cultures and arts, spirituality and politics, capturing the diverse fecundity of Indian civilization. There are musings on our fragile environment, the disaster potential of dams, on the emergent water crisis and waste disposal. It has been hailed as an incandescent feat of the imagination suffused with spirituality reminiscent of the author's tutelage under renowned Advaita scholar Dr. T M P Mahadevan at Vivekananda College, Chennai.
