This narration on the crossing of Traill’s Pass has all the elements that one may encounter in any mountaineering expedition, which this team led by Anup Sah finished successfully when several attempts to achieve the same had failed during a period of fifty three years. Backing away of the Sherpas due to the dangers of the route, leading to the expedition team having to shed even some of its essential load, knowledge gained from a previous expedition resulting in the adoption of a fifinal route diffferent from the one originally planned, and assistance with food from a foreign team, demonstrative of the mountaineering fraternity that exists despite all adversities, are all part of the story. The cherry on the cake is the inclusion of photographs of the flflora and fauna of the region traversed, a consequence of the photographic genius of the narrator, which may not be available so vividly in the account of any other mountaineering expedition.
