The book written about forestry in Manipur particularly about starting of modern forestry including setting up of a Forest Department and circumstances leading to it. Mr. Kaith and his report on forests of Manipur has been very important phase in the forestry of Manipur. This book also deals with the impact of Kaith’s Report on the forest management in Manipur. While preparing his report, Mr. Kaith documented the earlier reports by his predecessors, Mr. Rowbotham, Mr. Milroy and Mr. Owden to which the later generation foresters do not have any chance of access. While describing the situation leading to preparation of his report (may read as plan also), Mr. Kaith had literally described the forestry scenario since Anglo Manipur War till the date of his appointment in 1932 and hence a detail account of the conditions of forests of those days can be seen. He laid down all the conditions and prerequisites for starting scientific management of forests and the author regards him as father of forestry in Manipur and his plan a masterpiece. The book has been formatted in a much larger paper size to accommodate a rare map and a number of pdf/jpg copies of very old documents exhibited in this book within the texts and as Appendix/Annexure.
