About the Book
In the ancient world of first-century Judaism, children occupied the margins of society voiceless, powerless, and often overlooked. They held no legal status, bore no religious authority, and were seen more as dependent than individuals. Yet in a stunning reversal of cultural norms, Jesus elevated their status to one of spiritual significance. He welcomed them, blessed them, and declared that the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these (Mark 10:14; Matthew 19:14; Luke 18:16). This radical embrace of children reveals a deeper theological truth: that entry into God’s reign requires the heart of a child—open, receptive, and transformed by divine grace.
Yet the Fourth Gospel draws us deeper still. Here, to become a child of God is not a mere metaphor it is a metamorphosis, humans recreated in the divine image and likeness. It is not simply a shift in posture but a rebirth into divine identity, a transformation wrought by the Spirit who gives life (Jn 5:21; 6:63). Those who receive Jesus and believe in His name are granted not only belonging but authority with power children of God. This central message of the Gospel indeed, the message of the Bible is brought out with skillful articulation in this book. It is explored through a comprehensive exegesis of John 1:12–13, which serves as the central part of the book. It presents convincing arguments with excellent theological and contextual application. The Book is especially significant in a time when presenting Christ and His message has become a challenging task, particularly in India.
