The information psychology of the users varies depending upon their specific requirements. The present study has been undertaken to study the information psychology of faculty members using internet at selective universities of India. The research is conducted to identify the purpose, nature and the type of information required by the faculty members, to find out the various search engines and web browsers frequently used by them. Moreover to find out if they use any advanced search facilities and the problems faced by them while carrying out online searching. First chapter provides the introduction of the five universities taken as the study area, need, justification, and objectives of the study and the description of the various aspects of the terms information, information seeking and information psychology. Second chapter explains the internet and its evolution. Third chapter gives the details of the various past studies carried out in India as well as abroad. Analysis of the data collected by distributing the questionnaires to the faculty members is analyzed in the chapter four. The analysis is done by using various statistical techniques. Moreover the relationship between faculty members' gender, age, years of experience, academic discipline, amount of computer education, computer access and the use of internet is found out. Fifth chapter gives the findings and testing of the hypotheses. Conclusions and suggestions are provided in the chapter six. These suggestions will help the librarians in the academic institutions to develop a system where there is no barrier in the fast and specific seeking of information by the faculty members.
